Newtownmountkennedy Primary school is situated is the beautiful village of Newtownmountkennedy, Co. Wicklow.
It is a small semi-rural Catholic school for all primary aged children, four to twelve years. We also have two classes and a pre-school class for Children with Autism. We are a school in the Catholic ethos, under the patronage of the Catholic Archbishop of Dublin. We celebrate Feast Days, Holy Days of Obligation and promote a Christian respect for and the encouragement of Faith Practice in all our Pupils.
The school is a co-educational school, following the amalgamation of the Boys School (St. Joseph’s) and the Girls School (St. Brigid’s). The amalgamation has been hugely successful for both the pupils and staff alike. The school promotes positive attitudes to learning and behaviour and has a very ‘family’ like atmosphere. Pupils are encouraged to work to the best of their ability at all times and to be respectful of themselves and others.
Newtownmountkennedy has a ‘high tech’ attitude to teaching and learning with the use of interactive white boards and projectors in all classes. Pupils are encouraged to familiarise themselves and use ICT across the curriculum. We have a broad and balanced curriculum which caters for all pupils and their varying abilities.
